Why Choose Us.....
At Safe Living NQ, we are proud to be the largest Residential Out-of-Home Care provider in the Tablelands – but it’s not our size that sets us apart, it’s our standards. We show our care through action first, creating homes and services that young people can be proud of and truly thrive in.
Homes That Restore Dignity and Self-Worth
The majority of our young people come from disadvantaged or homeless backgrounds. That’s why we provide high-quality, modern homes furnished with care, style, and comfort. We want every young person who walks through our doors to know: you are valued, you have self-worth, and you deserve to live in a beautiful home.
Unlike your typical residential youth house that is institutional-style houses with locked TV cabinets and “staff-only” safe rooms, barricaded by Crim Safe doors our residences feel warm, welcoming, and family-like. When young people feel proud of where they live, they respect it – and we see far less property damage because of it. Our staff also work tirelessly to keep every home in immaculate condition, living by our ethos:
“If you can’t consistently keep our homes to the highest standard, you cannot deliver the highest standards of care.”
Animal Assisted Therapeutic Residence (AATR) – A Regional First
We are the only provider in the region – and one of the very few in Queensland – to offer an Animal Assisted Therapeutic Residence. This innovative model integrates animals into the healing journey, providing young people with:
- Comfort and unconditional companionship in times of distress
- Reduced anxiety, stress, and feelings of isolation
- Opportunities to build empathy, responsibility, and routine
- Positive emotional regulation and calmness in the home
- A safe, non-judgemental relationship that rebuilds trust
For young people who have endured trauma, the presence of animals can be transformative.
A Unique System for the Most Complex Cases
What truly separates Safe Living NQ from all other providers is our unique system, training structure, and mentorship model. We have built a proven framework that consistently delivers outstanding outcomes – even with the region’s most complex cases.
Our system allows us to employ and train Residential Youth Workers under the age of 20 – something few providers would attempt. These young staff are equipped with the tools to:
- Maintain professional boundaries without resorting to over-friendliness
- Avoid appeasing negative behaviours or rewarding poor choices
- Confidently handle conflict without fear of being “the bad person”
We balance this fresh, energetic workforce with experienced, mature Residential Youth Workers. Together, this creates a diverse, well-rounded team that can connect with young people on every level while maintaining the consistency, stability, and professionalism our stakeholders expect.
Consistent Excellence, Every Time
Our results speak for themselves. By combining immaculate homes, innovative therapeutic models, and a finely tuned system of training and mentorship, Safe Living NQ consistently achieves positive and life-changing outcomes for young people in our care – and peace of mind for the stakeholders who trust us.
Trauma-Informed Care
Safe Living NQ collaborates with various organisations and professionals to provide holistic support for the children in our care. We believe in a comprehensive approach to ensure the well-being and development of each young person.
